Our school offers a variety of classes ranging from Preschool through adult. Placement in classes is based on a graded curriculum. Age and experience are used as guidelines.
PRESCHOOL: Ages 2 1/2 - 4
A 45 minute class designed to introduce and explore creative movement. Emphasis is on developing gross motor skills, muscle control, balance and spatial awareness, as well as listening and leadership skills. Rhythmical patterns and props will be used to create a fun moving environment! Students must be potty trained in order to enroll.
PRIMARY: Ages 5-7
A 60 minute class exploring the very basics of Ballet, Tap, Tumbling and Creative Movement. This level is an extension of the Pre-School class.
LEVEL I, II, III, TEEN, & INTERMEDIATE:
Ballet: The Vaganova Method is implemented at this stage of a young dancer's development. Now children are physically and emotionally capable of studying in a more structured way. Technique and terminology are broadened in these levels.
Tap: An American art form taught in the true tradition. Rhythms and coordination are stressed, each year progressively advancing. Tap terminology is highlighted.
Jazz: Also an American art form stressing technique and style, while introducing Funky, African, Theatre Dance and Contemporary movement. Classes consist of center barre, floor stretches, isolations, progressions and combinations.
Specialty classes such as Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Poise and Charm, and Adult Classes are also offered. Please contact the office for more information.
