Summer 6-week Session
The Carolyn Dutra Dance Studio offers something for everyone during the Summer!
  • Payment - Primary card on file will be charged when enrollment requirements are met and class is confirmed. Once a class is confirmed, primary card on file will be charged upon enrollment.
  • A minimum number of students is required to be enrolled in the full 6-week session by 6/1/20  for class to take place. Payments will not be processed until class minimum is met.
  • Dancers must be appropriate age by first class.
  • Follow Dress Code for Summer Classes & Camps.
  • If you have a question regarding placement please contact the Studio office.
  • CURRENT COMPANY DANCERS: The Studio will automatically enroll current Company dancers in specifically placed Master Class Monday classes. Enroll yourselves in recreational summer classes!

SUMMER CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
(Not all below are offered each season.)

Mommy and Me (18 months-3 years)
A 30 minute adult/child Creative Movement Program designed to impart the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of our youngest dancers. Students will be exposed to a fun, constructive and nurturing classroom experience exposing them to classroom etiquette, musical awareness, as well as exploring self-awareness, creative expression and imagination. Rhythm, creative movement and the use of props are introduced.  Any adult care giver is welcome...not just Mommy!
To uphold the integrity of our dance education, Mommy & Me classes require 1 adult per dancer.  If you have multiple children, another adult must attend per child. Can be dad, auntie, uncle, grandma, etc.!  No other adults or siblings allowed in dance room.  Other siblings/children, may not be left unattended in the waiting room. Class is 30 minutes.

Preschool (2y8m-5 years old) Potty trained
A 45 minute class designed to introduce and explore creative movement. Emphasis is on developing gross motor skills, muscle control, balance and spatial awareness, as well as listening and leadership skills. Rhythmical patterns and props are used to create a fun, moving environment! Students must be potty trained, no pull ups. Class is 45 minutes.

Primary (5-7 years old)
A 60 minute class exploring the very basics and fundamentals of Ballet, Tap, Tumbling and Creative Movement. This class builds confidence, strength, and coordination and is an extension of the Preschool Class. Summer class is 45 minutes.

Tumbling (Ages 3-5) Potty trained
A 45 minute class introducing basic acrobatic skills to our youngest dancers.  This class will build strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and confidence.  Dancers will stretch, learn acrobatic poses, tumble, climb through obstacle courses and get their wiggles out in a safe space with our certified instructors.
Placement for this class is by age, no previous skills required. Must be 100% potty trained, Ages 3-5. Class is 45 minutes.

Acro (Ages 5-9)
Stretches, tumbling and acrobatic tricks, focusing on balance, endurance and flexibility. It’s the “floor routine” in gymnastics! This is a mixed levels class and not an advanced class. There is no pre-requisite. Class is 45 minutes.

Acro Clinic (Ages 7-11) Minimum 1 year Acro experience required.
This mixed-level intensive class builds strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills. Each week will focus on a different skill, such as: Backbends, Cartwheels, Handstands, Splits and more. Students should expect a hard working class!
This is a mixed levels class and not an advanced class. 1 year minimum Acro experience required.
What to Wear: Primary-Capezio short sleeve pink leotard (no skirts attached)/Level1 and up-solid black leotard, tan or pink convertible tights, solid black leggings or athletic shorts, barefoot, hair pulled back

Hippity Hop (Ages 5-7)
A hip hop class designed for ages 5-7. Class begins with a warmup, progressions, and students learn a combination with introductory hip hop moves that will build each week. Movement games and props are used each week. Music and lyrics appropriate for their age group. Most of all...this class is fun!! Class is 45 minutes.

Hip Hop (Ages 7-11)
Combines elements of various street dance styles, blending Old School, New School, Breakdancing, and even Jazz, performed to upbeat, current and popular music. Class is 45 minutes.

Contemporary (Ages 11-17)
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Class is 45 minutes.
What to Wear: Solid black leotard, tan or pink convertible tights, solid black leggings or athletic shorts, ballet or contemporary shoes, hair pulled back

Kids Yoga (Ages 4-6)
This energy-releasing class encourages self-expression, body awareness and focus through Yoga practice and play.  Young Yogis will have fun as they build strong and healthy bodies, social, sensory and motor skills. Class is 45 minutes.
What to Wear: Capri or full-length athletic leggings, knee-length fitted athletic shorts, full length athletic top (no crop-tops or just a sports bra), bare foot, hair pulled back. Preschool/Primary dance attire is also ok to wear! Make sure tights can be barefoot.

Kids Yoga (Ages 7-11)
Improve strength, flexibility, and coordination. Developing Yogis will learn how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and energy releasing techniques. This class encourages self-expression as well as building social skills. They will also learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy. Class is 45 minutes.
What to Wear: Capri or full-length athletic leggings, knee-length fitted athletic shorts, full length athletic top (no crop-tops or just a sports bra), bare foot, hair pulled back. Primary/Level 1 dance attire is also ok to wear! Make sure tights can be barefoot.

Yoga (Adults 18+)
This class moves at a calm to uplifting pace. Breathe, stretch, and move with more awareness and ease. Focus is on enhancing endurance, balance, strength and flexibility, while flowing from pose to pose. This is a great class for beginners and is accessible to students of all levels. Class offers various modifications and use of props. The room is comfortably warm.
What to Wear: Any comfortable athletic clothes. Bring your own yoga mat, limited mats available for use.
