**Safety at the studio is extremely important at CDDS. Children may not be left unattended or sit in class while adults are in class. We would love to help accommodate families, but with so many families, and so many individual circumstances, it is impossible.  We thank you for your support and understanding in this delicate matter.**

Class Descriptions (Not all in session)
Acro Ages 3-5 Potty trained
A 45 minute class introducing basic acrobatic skills to our youngest dancers.  This class will build strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and confidence.  Dancers will stretch, learn acrobatic poses, tumble, climb through obstacle courses and get their wiggles out in a safe space with our certified instructors.
Placement for this class is by age, no previous skills required. Must be 100% potty trained, Ages 3-5.
What to Wear (Same as Preschool/Primary)
Girls: Capezio short sleeve light blue leotard and pink transition tights, Hair pulled back securely away from face, Barefoot.
Boys: White T-shirt, Black athletic pants, Hair pulled away from face, Barefoot

Musical Theater Ages 7-11
Musical theatre is dancing that is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals. Styles of dance will vary based on the show dancers are learning about each week; styles could include jazz and contemporary, but “musical theater” as a style will be the focus. Whichever style lends to the show! Students will dance to the music of Broadway's best musicals, even learning the history and original choreography for some shows!
What to Wear: Black leotard, tan tights, black jazz leggings/shorts, jazz shoes, hair pulled back. Boys: Black athletic pants, white athletic top

Adult Tap/Conditioning
Classes begin with bare feet or sneakers for a center warm up and stretching that lead to a full body strength and conditioning workout. With tap shoes on, tap progressions and center combinations explore rhythms and patterns while developing strength, coordination, balance, and recall. Classic technique and vocabulary are reviewed.
What to Wear: Tap shoes (required), bare foot or sneakers, and hair pulled back. Whatever athletic clothing you feel comfortable moving around freely in; from traditional dance clothes (ie. leotard and tight) to athletic leggings and tops.

Family Dance Jam is a structured dance party for the whole family! An adult must attend and participate with a child. Multiple siblings can attend with one adult.

Kids Yoga encourages self-expression, body awareness, and gives tools to feel calmer, happier, and more peaceful inside! Improves strength, flexibility, and coordination. Young yogis will learn how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and energy releasing techniques.They will also learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun and challenging poses, yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy.

Pound Fitness (Adult Class)
Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.

Acro for Dancers Minimum 1 year Acro experience required.
This mixed-level intensive class builds strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills that benefit a dancer. Each week will focus on various skills that are utilized in dance.  Dancers will practice transitions of acro skills and technique in to dance, such as: Backbends, Cartwheels, Handstands, Splits and more. Students should expect a hard working class!
Ages vary by class, with 1 year minimum Acro experience.
What to Wear:
Girls: Solid Black leotard, pink/tan transition tights, Hair pulled back securely away from face (no scrunchies), Barefoot.
Boys: White T-shirt, Black athletic pants, Hair pulled away from face, Barefoot

Acro I & II 7+ years old with 1 year minimum Acro experience, see pre requisites
These mixed-level intensive classes build strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills. Throughout the session, students will work on various skills based on level: Acro I - handstands, front/back walkover, cartwheels, etc., Acro II - aerial, handsprings, and more advanced acro skills. Students should expect a hard working class!
  • Prequisites: Acro 1 - Pushup backbend without a spot, Acro II - Front/Back walkover without a spot

Baby & Me
A program to benefit both mom and baby exploring movement together.  Expectant mothers will connect with their own bodies as they move to music stimulating their baby's developing sense of hearing. This is a light exercise class.

Hippity Hop, Ages 5-7
A hip hop class designed for ages 5-7. Class begins with a warmup, progressions, and students learn a combination with introductory hip hop moves that will build each week. Movement games and props are used each week. Music and lyrics appropriate for their age group. Most of all...this class is fun!!
What to Wear: If dancer has another class before or after hippity hop, their leotard and tights should be worn with sneakers that were not worn outside. Dancers may add a T-shirt for the “cool” factor. If only attending hippity hop, wear any clothes comfortably moving in with sneakers that were not worn outside. No jeans, or loose fitting clothes

Improv Ages 7-11
Improvisation is the most liberating form of movement. Dancers will leave all choreography and expectations at the door and practice moving freely through spontaneous choices. This practice is important in helping students create a healthier and more confident relationship with improvisation by introducing them to new concepts to keep in their toolbox like patterns, levels, and speed.
What to Wear: Black leotard or athletic crop top (not just a sports bra),  black jazz leggings/shorts (high waist if wearing crop top), tan tights, hair pulled back. Boys: Black athletic pants, white athletic top

Hip Hop Ages 12-18
Made popular by “dance crews” around the United States, hip hop is a fusion of various street style dancing. Blending Old School, New School, Floor Work, Breakdancing, and even Jazz Funk performed to upbeat, current and popular music that will be sure to get the whole crowds attention.
What to Wear: Sneakers NOT worn outside (Important to protect dance floor. Change into upon arrival, do not wear outside. If not new, clean and designate dance sneakers.) Dress cool, loose fitting clothing, athletic wear, hair pulled back from face.

Adult Jazz, 18+
This is a jazz class for adults with some jazz experience.
Classes begin in the center for warmup, strength, conditioning and stretch.  Progressions, center work with classic jazz steps.  Each class will finish with a combination that will be added on each week. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught.

Adult Tap
This is a tap class for adults who little to no dance experience and are interested in revisiting the rhythmical art of Tap.
Classes begin at the barre where students perform movement sequences to develop strength, coordination, balance and proper alignment. These skills are reinforced through center and across the floor combinations. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught.
What to Wear: Tap shoes and hair pulled back. Whatever athletic clothing you feel comfortable moving around freely in; from traditional dance clothes (ie. leotard and tight) to athletic leggings and tops.

Zumba, Ladies 18+
This FUN, EMPOWERING, ENERGIZING class for Ladies is all about having a good time! We are proud to have two certified Zumba teachers on our staff to run this class at CDDS. This class is open to all levels of Zumba Mamis :) Don't be discouraged if you "aren't a dancer". You can "step-touch" the whole time and come for the good energy and good time :)  
Women ages 18+.
Children may not be left unattended in Studio or sit in dance room while parent is in class.
What to Wear: Any comfortable athletic clothes. Sneakers NOT worn outside, to protect Studio floor.

Adaptive Dance RhythmWorks, Ages 5-11
Rhythm Works Integrative Dance is a specialized, but inclusive, dance and rhythm program designed for children Ages 7-11 with individual learning differences and special needs. The program uses evidence-based therapeutic practices to achieve developmental goals. To our students, it’s a fun and exciting activity that provides participation and socialization opportunities. Staff is certified to teach this amazing program.  Therapist or parent can participate with student if needed.
Maximum 6 students per class.

What to Wear: Comfort is key. Please wear clothing that is comfortable, that the child can freely move, bend and stretch. Students may be barefoot, wear dance shoes or sneakers with clean soles.

Contemporary, Ages 7-11
Contemporary dance combines elements of several genres including jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and have the opportunity to express themselves through improvisational movements. Students love this self expressive class!

Acro Ages 5-9
Acrobatics includes stretches and tumbling. It’s the “floor routine” in gymnastics! Students will learn acrobatic skills like somersaults, splits, backbends, etc, while building strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance, balance and confidence. No previous Acro experience required.

Acro Clinic, Ages 6-11, Minimum 1 year Acro experience required.
This mixed-level intensive class is for focused students who want to work hard! This class builds strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills that benefit a dancer. Each month classes will focus on building up to a different peak skill. Students  will practice transitions of acro skills and technique into dance, such as: balance poses, backbend, cartwheel, handstand and more!

Hippity Hop Ages 5-7
Combines elements of various street dance styles, blending Old School, New School, Breakdancing, and even Jazz, performed to upbeat, current and popular music.

Kids Yoga, Ages 4-6
This energy-releasing class encourages self-expression, body awareness and focus through Yoga practice and play.  Young Yogis will have fun as they build strong and healthy bodies, social, sensory and motor skills.

Kids Yoga, Ages 7-9 / 7-11
Improve strength, flexibility, and coordination.  This class encourages self-expression, body awareness, as well as building social skills. Developing Yogis will learn how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and energy releasing techniques.They will also learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun and challenging poses, yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy.

Adult Yoga
This class moves at a calm to uplifting pace to start the week with a happy and feel-good mind and body. Breathe, stretch, and move with more awareness and ease. Focus is on enhancing endurance, balance, strength and flexibility, while flowing from pose to pose. This is a great class for beginners and is accessible to students of all levels. Class offers various modifications and use of props. The room is comfortably warm.

Adult Ballet
This is a ballet class for adults who have some dance experience and are interested in revisiting the beautiful art of ballet.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. Classes begin at the barre where students perform movement sequences to develop strength, coordination, balance and proper alignment. These skills are reinforced through center and across the floor combinations. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught.
