Carolyn Dutra Dance Studio Demonstrator Program
What Is the Program?
The Carolyn Dutra Dance Studio (CDDS) Demonstrator Training Program is designed for mature, responsible dancers who want to take on a leadership role within the studio.
Demonstrators assist teachers and younger students during regular classes, camps, birthday parties, rehearsals, and performances. An important distinction is that demonstrators are considered “helpers,” not teachers. Their role is to support the teacher, engage with students, model appropriate behavior, and help classes run smoothly.
The CDDS Demonstrator Training Program gives experienced dancers the opportunity to transition from being a student to becoming a studio leader. Demonstrators learn by working alongside teachers, supporting younger dancers, helping manage classes and events, and modeling the behavior expected of a Carolyn Dutra Dancer. Dancers must be at least 12 years old and teacher-recommended to participate in the Demonstrator Training Program.

The program expects demonstrators to consistently demonstrate strong personal and professional qualities. These include:

DETC is an intensive, four-day program designed for dedicated dancers interested in developing the skills and knowledge needed to become future dance educators. Now in its 83rd year, the program offers comprehensive training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, and additional areas including dance anatomy, injury prevention, teaching methods, entrepreneurship, and more.
