The Step Up 2 Dance Competition
Saturday, June 3, 2023 @ Crown Plaza, Warwick RI

• All Acts will  perform on Saturday, June 3.
• All AWARDS held at end of day, estimated 6pm
• Demonstrators do not attend class
• All parents and dancers please read the attached CDDS Competition Packet together. Let us know if you have any questions by June 1. Have everything packed and ready 3 days before Competition to leave time to get anything you're missing. Attachment: Competition Packet (1).pdf (5.1MB)

Update 6/1: 

• Schedule update.
• DO NOT bring a rack n roll.  Arrive in first costume. Bring other costume(s) in garment bag and small dance bag with your other items. 
• All dancers arrive 8am.
• Return from break at 4pm. See below for what to wear. At the end of the Solos, they will do a Fun Improv Dance  with the Students and then include them in a Tik Tok fun dance.
• Make sure your name is written on all of your costume pieces, leggings, shoes, etc.

  • All dancers are dismissed to parents for a break after Finale routine. Take all belongings and do not return with them later. Your area must be approved clean by CDDS Staff before dismissal. Go have lunch and return later for Awards.
  • *If dancer is not leaving the venue with their parent, parent must email the Studio by Thursday June 1 letting us know if their dancer will leave with another parent, or they will leave with another student/without a parent.*

• 4:00pm All dancers meet Miss Jenna at designated area TBD. Wearing warmup jacket, black leotard/crop top, high waist leggings, black Jazz shoes, keep stage makeup/earrings and hair.

• Be rested, eat healthy and hydrate, Miss Jenna will lead warmup and stretch upon arrival.
• Arrive in first costume, hair makeup done, black leggings and warmup jacket on over costume and cami bra/seamless nude underwear.
• Wear a new pair of tan convertible tights and bring backup.  
  • Better Days/Soloists ONLY-arrive in tan stirrup tights. bring tan convertible tights
• Dance shoes must be clean with no rips and fit you correctly. 
• Wear rhinestone earrings and have an extra set.
• No finger or toe nail polish besides a white/clear French manicure. 
• No jewelry besides performance rhinestone earrings.

FAQ
Can I bring a rack n roll?
No. We have been told the dressing room is small and they requested students only bring essential items and clear out of dressing room after last routine. Arrive in first costume. Bring other costume(s) in a garment bag and small dance bag with your other items.

Does it cost anything for people to come and watch the competition?
No, there is no admission fee for guests to attend the competition in the audience. However, it’s not a huge ballroom so guests may need to leave the ballroom for others to take a seat. They ask students to limit to 2 guests to watch them and if necessary, 1 guest during Awards.

What food will be available at the venue?
Attached is the menu for the Crossings restaurant at the Crown Plaza.They are open from 6:30am-10:30am for breakfast and then from 10:30am-11:00pm for lunch and dinner.
There is a strict no food policy in the Competition rooms (dressing room, performance space). One water bottle per dancer is permitted in.

Is there a livestream?
No.

Mandatory Rehearsals:
All rehearsals are mandatory. 
Dress in all black leotard/crop top and high waisted leggings, hair pulled back, no jewelry.

Request weekend dates off from your jobs now if you haven't already.
Poor attendance will result in removal from the competition routine. Payment is still due in full and there are no refunds because we already paid for all entries.
