Summer Classes

4-week Summer Session, July 29-August 22, 2024

Enrollment opens March 1, 2024. Minimum required by June 1 for class to confirm. Make up classes available. 

Placement: *Summer is a continuation of 2023-2024 season. Enroll in a class/camp your dancer is currently placed. If you have any questions email info@carolyndutradancestudio.com including your dancer's full name and current class.

Tuition:
  • 30 minute class = $50
  • 45 minute class = $60/session
  • 60 minute class = $75/session
  • 75 minute class = $80/session

Class Descriptions:

Not all classes are in session.

Toddler and Me, 18 months-3 years
A 30 minute fun-filled child and adult caregiver class designed to impart the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development of our youngest dancers while nurturing the bond between caregiver and child.  This curriculum includes age appropriate exposure to developmental milestones, natural exploration and progression of motor development through, dance, sensory-motor activities and play.  Interactive songs, rhythm activities, obstacle courses,  and props are introduced.  
  • Students do not need to be potty trained.
  • This class is a great introduction to dancing school and helps in the transition to the independent Preschool class.
  • To uphold the integrity of our dance education, Toddler & Me classes require 1 adult per dancer.  If you have multiple children, another adult must attend per child. No other adults or siblings allowed in dance room.  Other siblings/children, may not be left unattended the Studio.

Preschool, 2years 8 months-5 years old, Potty trained
Designed to introduce and explore creative movement. Emphasis is on developing gross motor skills, muscle control, balance and spatial awareness, as well as listening and leadership skills. Rhythmical patterns and props are used to create a fun, moving environment! Students must be 100% potty trained in order to enroll.

Primary, 5-7 years old
A dance class exploring the very basics and fundamentals of Ballet, Tap, Tumbling and Creative Movement. This class builds confidence, strength, and coordination and is an extension of the Preschool Class.  

Hippity Hop, Ages 5-7
A hip hop class designed for ages 5-7. Class begins with a warmup, progressions, and students learn a combination with introductory hip hop moves that will build each week. Movement games and props are used each week. Music and lyrics appropriate for their age group. Most of all...this class is fun!!

Hip Hop Ages 7-11
Combines elements of various street dance styles, blending Old School, New School, Breakdancing, and even Jazz, performed to upbeat, current, appropriate and popular music.

Acro Ages 3-5
For Preschool level students.
Introduction to basic acrobatic skills for our youngest dancers.  This class will build strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and confidence.  Dancers will stretch, learn acrobatic poses, tumble, climb through obstacle courses and get their wiggles out in a safe space with our certified instructors.
No previous skills required. Must be 100% potty trained.

Acro Ages 5-7
For Primary level students.
These mixed-level classes build strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills. Throughout the session, students will work on various skills appropriate to their individual level like somersaults, splits, backbends, cartwheels, handstands etc. No previous skills required.  

Acro Level I & II
Ages 7+ years old with 1 year minimum Acro experience required.
These intensive mixed-level intensive classes are for focused students who want to work hard! This class builds strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in Acro skills. Throughout the session, students will work on various skills based on level: Acro I - handstands, front/back walkover, cartwheels, etc., Acro II - aerial, handsprings, and more advanced acro skills.
  • Perquisites for Acro 1 -  Standing backbend without a spot
  • Prerequisite for Acro II - Front/Back walkover without a spot

Contemporary Ages 7-11
Contemporary dance combines elements of several genres including jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and have the opportunity to express themselves through improvisational movements

Musical Theater Ages 7-11
Styles of dance will vary based on the show dancers are learning about each week; styles could include "musical theater" jazz and contemporary.
Must have taken Jazz in Level 1 or young Company class.

Company Pointe
For Company dancers currently en Pointe.
This mixed-level Pointe class implements the Vaganova Method with a focus on technique and strength.
Pointe is the dream for dancers! To safely start pointe, dancers should be at least 11 years old and have studied Ballet for at least 3 years for 3-5 hours per week. Their feet must also be structurally ready for demands of pointe work. Only Company dancers are eligible to be evaluated for Pointe.

How to Summer Class:

Before you arrive:
  • Do not come if you are sick. 
  • Arrive in Dress Code (See below) and dance shoes on inside slides.
  • Use the bathroom before class
  • Pull hair back securely
  • No jewelry other than small earrings. Remove anything from wrists, neck, etc before coming to class.

  • Girls:
  • Hair pulled back neatly away from face
  • Capezio short/long sleeve pink leotard (no flutter sleeves/skirts)
  • Capezio ballet pink transition tights
  • So Danca full sole ballet shoes (Pink40) *These shoes do not have the tie elastics.
  • (Optional) Light pink knit Ballet shrug + Light pink knit calf leg warmers
  • Boys: White athletic T-shirt, Black athletic pants, Black ballet shoes, Hair pulled away from face
  • Adult: Comfortable clothes, socks

Acro 3-5/5-7
  • Capezio short sleeve light blue leotard and pink transition tights.
  • Boys: White fitted athletic shirt and athletic shorts

Acro 7-11
  • Ages 7+: Solid black leotards and pink/tan transition tights. Optional- fitted solid black athletic shorts/leggings. 
  • May bring water bottle

Acro Level 1/2
  • Solid black leotard, black leggings, barefoot
  • Water bottle

Yoga 5-8
  • Athletic top and leggings
  • Bring a Yoga mat

Preschool/Primary
  • Hair pulled back neatly away from face
  • Capezio short sleeve light blue leotard (no skirts attached)
  • Capezio ballet pink transition tights
